24 Days

Grab a cuppa, I am on my soap box!

Well, this is my second to last blog until Coffin Hop. I will have a creepy story for you this year. So will a few of my lovely scary friends and there will be prizes too!

I have had busy last week. I have a contract on my house and now I wait for a closing date. We were told that we were to work from Phoenix when we sold the house. Now after selling we were told no. Not really happy with that. Little that can be done about it at this point but looking for a new job.

This week as I was fixing tea the tele was on and I heard a school was banning books. What is this, the 21st century or did I fall back in time? What's next southern Arizona book burning? One paragraph in this book upset one parent. This parent says it’s porn. My question is if you are against it fine, but why take something out of context? The whole book is about how a young person survived abuse. I know it’s just me but I think that could help a teenager. This was a high school too, not junior high or elementary school.

This is Banned Books Week and yet another small town wants a book banned. What will they do next, burn books they don’t like? It seems to me if you don’t like a book, don’t read it. I want to know what gives a few the idea that they can dictate what others read, write or paint. The arts have always been attacked by small minded people. I think you should be allowed to read what ever you please. I may not like it but who cares.

Freedom is for everyone not just a few. Some books that have been banned are now called the greatest literary works. Ever hear of a little book called “To Kill a Mockingbird”?

Go read a banned book and be glad you still have that freedom. So what book will you read?

The Catcher in the Rye

The Great Gatsby

Slaughterhouse five

Kite Runner

Have a great time reading friends. Cheers!

Fall At Last

Grab a cuppa and relax for a minute.

Happy fall to you all. It’s here at last, well, on the calendar. It was 100 here today. Arizona has 2 seasons; Hot and Cold.

This week was very busy for us. We had many people looking at the house. We had a birthday in the family and my fab son come home for the weekend to visit. As we sat down to dinner Sunday night the phone rang and we got an offer on the house. Keep your fingers crossed this goes through and no one backs out. I am sure not going!

I have gotten so little done I feel this week on my Coffin Hop story. It’s hard to write, keep a house spotless and Princess calm. She thinks everyone comes to see her.

Thursday, a family member sent us four pizzas. They came packed in dry ice, each in a pizza box. Well, the pizza boxes had loads of cornmeal and it went all over. Pizza just doesn’t ship well. It was a mess and just didn’t cook well. I put the last two on the grill to cook it helped some. So my advice, please do not send your loved ones pizza across the country.

I will have all my dear friends at Coffin Hop’s blogs listed by mid-October. Say hello, they are scary fun too.

So what are you reading this week?

Cheers for now.

Mid September

Grab a cuppa and relax a minute.

I hope your fall is cooler, mine no. It will be in the 100s again this week.

Princess and I have a good start on a story for Coffin Hop. Each day a new part will be here for you during Coffin Hop. So many very great writers will also be on Coffin Hop. I will have a list of all the fun Hoppers for you at the time. Coffin Hop will be the week of Halloween. Many will be having giveaways of books and fun things.

We are waiting to sell this house. It would be good for a holiday home or as investment property. I wish I had the time to use it as such but I don’t. At least it’s super clean and turn key. I hear that's what people are looking for.

If you have time most evenings I post a sunset from my back garden. One thing about Arizona you get so many beautiful sunsets. You can go to my Instagram on the side. Yes, I do post a few pictures of Princess being way cute.

Princess and I as you can see are a little busy. I have to find a new book to read at bedtime. To me that is so relaxing. We hope you have a wonderful week. So what are you reading?

September 8th

Grab a cuppa and visit for a minute.

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend. I spent it waiting for the house to sell. Please keep you fingers crossed it sells soon.

Well, the winners, three said, no mention please. Matt was the big winner. He helped animals and got a book.

I love fall, it is my favorite time of year. I miss seeing the changing leaves and crisp air. Here in Arizona fall means 89 F not 100 F degrees. I have faux leaves to place around the house and can dream of real ones. I look forward to the Halloween season. Costumes, pumpkins and putting up my Halloween village. I also love Coffin Hop. I know you will enjoy it even more this year.

Coffin Hop is next month. I am thinking of doing a short story for the hop. A small bit each day. I would like to hear what you think.

I am working slowly on my novel. I hope to have more time this week.

I just finished reading a book of short tales by Red Tash. It was about wizards. So if you are looking for a fun quick read I suggest The Wizard Tales. It is good fun.

So what are you reading? I would like to hear what you are thinking too.

Cheers for now.

September: Fall Begins

Have a nice cuppa and take a few minutes to read.

I am sorry I wasn't around this weekend. I have been under the weather and I hope I will be better by mid week.

So Matt should be getting his book soon. Why? Well, out of the kindness of his heart he gave a donation to Battersea Animal shelter in Princess’s name. As you all know, I love animals. Princess signed the book and I posted it the next day. I hope he enjoys it. He will let us know I am sure.

The other winners will be announced later if they want it public.

Princess and I have a busy week getting me healthy and keeping this place clean and pretty.

I will chat you up Friday late. Have a wonderful week.
